FAQQ: Our experience has been that roof top grease containment products often get neglected by service providers, why is this and how does the Grease Gutter System differ in this regard? A: The main reason roof top grease containment products are neglected is that it is so time consuming to change the absorbent material. The Grease Gutter absorbent pads can be exchanged in a fraction of the time the other products require. Q: Does the weather affect the performance of the Grease Gutter? A: In a word, no. The Grease Gutter was designed to perform in the harshest of conditions. Q: I would like to save money by installing the Grease Gutter myself. Is it really that easy to install that I don’t need to hire a contractor? A: The Grease Gutter is very straightforward to install in most cases. If you have the recommended tools and know how to use them there should be no problem for a standard install. If you have any questions please be sure to call us before starting. Q: Our fan curbs are not 36”x 36”; do we need custom Grease Gutters? A: Not always, if the fan curb is less than 36” you can cut the Grease Gutter lengths to fit (see instructions) or Omni can cut them for you for a $25 fee. If the fan curb is larger than 36” there will be a $25 custom cutting fee plus an additional fee of $3 per inch for each inch over 36” (replacement absorbent pads will be charged an extra $2 per inch for each inch over 36”). Q: If I don’t want to service the Grease Gutter myself what can I do? A: Most kitchen exhaust cleaning companies will service the Grease Gutter for an additional fee. If you need help finding a service provider, contact us at 1-877-226-6824, we have a network of service providers around the country. Q: What if my Grease Gutter is not maintained for awhile? A: The Grease Gutter is only guaranteed to work if it is maintained on a proper schedule. Q: The Grease Gutter is made of plastic. Is it tough enough to survive the abuse of service people and the weather? A: The Grease Gutter is made from the finest polymers available. We have sold thousands of Grease Gutter systems over the past 10 years and have had ZERO complaints. In fact, we guarantee our systems for the life of the system it is installed on. Q: The Grease Gutter is quite slim and does not sit on the roof, how can it catch the spray of grease from the fan? A: Grease does not normally “spray” from a fan; it leaks out from drain spouts and gaps in the fan onto the roof. The Grease Gutter catches the grease near the source of the leak before it gets on the roof. Q: My fan has a drain spout on only one side; why does it need 360 degree protection? A: During normal cleaning and maintenance, parts of the fan wear and loosen leaving gaps where grease will leak out onto the roof. Q: If I replace my fan will I need to buy a new Grease Gutter? A: Not if the replacement fan is the same size as the original as the Grease Gutter mounts to the curb not the fan itself. |
